During the month of February all high school students learned how to perform CPR and help someone who is choking. They learned how to help all age groups (adult, infant, and child). Each student performed hands on CPR, rescue breaths, and learned how to use and apply an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). Our students were featured on a two local news stations (link below).
I really appreciate the seriousness and attentive behavior from each student during their training! http://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/arizona-news/valley-schools-now-required-to-teach-students-cpr https://www.facebook.com/ScottsdalePrep/videos/550003918842675/

This month in both Middle School and High School we are seeing fevers, vomiting, sore throats.
We have had only a few cases of Influenza A reported. If you suspect your child may have the flu, please seek the advice of your pediatrician, Tamiflu may be an option to help reduce the length of flu symptoms but it works best within the first 24 hours. People who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms: · Fever* or feeling feverish/chills · Cough · Sore throat · Runny or stuffy nose · Muscle or body aches · Headaches · Fatigue (tiredness) · Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults. * It's important to note that not everyone with flu will have a fever The other illness we are seeing is a stomach virus. This specific virus isn't lasting the normal 24 hours like most stomach viruses, this one has been lasting up to 5 days and comes with a fever. To keep your child healthy, remind them to wash their hands, eat a healthy diet, get plenty of sleep, and cover their cough. Please let me know if you have any questions. Kindest Regards, Nurse Sheneman |
