This month in both Middle School and High School we are seeing fevers, vomiting, sore throats.
We have had only a few cases of Influenza A reported. If you suspect your child may have the flu, please seek the advice of your pediatrician, Tamiflu may be an option to help reduce the length of flu symptoms but it works best within the first 24 hours. People who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms:
· Fever* or feeling feverish/chills
· Sore throat
· Runny or stuffy nose
· Muscle or body aches
· Fatigue (tiredness)
· Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.
* It's important to note that not everyone with flu will have a fever
The other illness we are seeing is a stomach virus. This specific virus isn't lasting the normal 24 hours like most stomach viruses, this one has been lasting up to 5 days and comes with a fever.
To keep your child healthy, remind them to wash their hands, eat a healthy diet, get plenty of sleep, and cover their cough.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
